Community Tour Guide Training Workshop
Guided tours are more than just an introduction to places; they are also a form of community empowerment. By integrating community members’ collective memories into guided tours, fragmented pieces of local history can be brought together into a coherent, community-centred narrative that reflects not only the physical spaces we inhabit, but also the lived experiences and responses that emerge from them. We invite Tai Po residents and interested participants to join the training programme for community tour guides, where they will explore overlooked aspects of the neighbourhood and contribute to Tai Po’s guided tours for the public.
This six-session Community Tour Guide Training Workshop will be led by the “Street Neighbour Guide” team, with each session lasting approximately two hours and organised into three main components, including tour guiding methodologies, field-based community exploration, route design and planning, and group-based practical tour exercises.
